We’ve had a really good and busy entry into 2011, despite some of this weather we’ve been having!  Folks are taking advantage, too, of our tune-up special: $30 for a $60 valued tune-up until the end of February.  Must mention that you saw it here (or on Facebook)!  Makes great gifts for those that are hard to buy for!!

We’ve had a good chunk of our 2011 Electra order come in, so swing by to see some pretty bikes.  Also some 2011 Rockies have made it in the door, too.  We have some great blow-out prices on 2010 Rockies, so come check ‘em out.

Over the winter, Luke has changed up the front a bit, shaking up the accessories area, as well as showroom space.  We renovated our back repair space to have bigger and better work benches in November, and it makes a difference for the monkeys back there.  Francis designed a great, new tire holder, so we were able to get all the tires off of the pegs near the ceilings and jammed in a closet in the back.  Much easier to see what we’ve got, and easier access to, without taking 15 tires down to get one at the back.

A few weeks back, we ripped out one side of the work bench in the front, since it was a bunch of dead storage, falling apart drawers (Garett isn’t so fluid with his break dancing yet that he still spins into things at high speeds), and poor flow on the counter.  So, it’s now one big, beautiful bench with total open space underneath so weird, neglected things don’t get lost (like baby blue cable housing from the 90′s).  Joe made a bomb shelter with his counter by using a huge piece of steel sitting in the back.  All are safe in case of emergency.

Other than that, not much has been shakin’.  We’ve just added another experienced mechanic to our line-up while he’s in transition, so we have another grunter in the back, which will be great once spring starts knocking on our door (hopefully, he can stay on).  With all the great staff that we now have, we can be sure to be rock-solid once the onslaught of summer starts!  Yipee!

Perusing the downpour that is happening at this moment, I’ll be getting out the hip-waders before I’ll be getting on my bike (sad but true).  I’m sure there are many braver than I, and I commend you!  So, keep riding,

I have had the opportunity to ride Schwalbe’s new Ice Spiker Pro Tires on Kelowna’s frozen streets. This new generation tire has 361 carbide studs weighing in at 695 grams. This new weight savings is achieved by the carbide studs being held in an aluminum casing allowing less use of heavy steel.

With a week of -10°C and flurries the commute to work was safe and enjoyable with my new Schwalbe studded tires. Confidence in your tires to stop, corner, and react is paramount to riding in control, I recommend these tires for those reasons and more.
